And now on with the Thursday edition.

You no doubt have heard the name Joseph Mangala, German officer and physician during World War II,

nicknamed the Angel of Death.

He performed all sorts of deadly experiments on prisoners at Auschwitz concentration camp,

where he is a member of the team of doctors who selected victims to be murdered in gas chambers,

and was one of the doctors who administered the gas himself.

Mangala used Auschwitz as an opportunity to continue his studies and research into heredity,

using inmates for medical experimentation.

His medical experiments showed no consideration, of course, for the victim's health, safety,

or physical and emotional suffering.

He was particularly interested in identical twins, people with two different colors of eyes, dwarves, and people with physical abnormalities.

In his twin experiments, Mangala generally ordered the twins to undertake weekly physical examinations.
