article the title sounds explosive it is not explosive except to the extent that

up Rob J Robert Oppenheimer the subject of the movie Oppenheimer and his leftist politics and his

connections to the communist party the United States in the 1930s and the early 1940s have been

willfully and purposely obscured first by his biographers Martin Sherwin and Kai Bird in the book

American from Ethiopia which is the source material for the movie Oppenheimer and now by the

writer director Christopher Nolan who has brought forth this timeless look at J Robert Oppenheimer

and his times it is a magnificent movie I think it's one of the best movies of the last 20 years

but it does alter or obfuscate or ignore the historical record that is unimpeachable that J

Robert Oppenheimer was for a time not merely a fellow traveler somebody who supported the aims and

goals of the communist party but did not actually join which he himself described himself as or at

the very least his biographers described himself as but was actually a member of the communist party

who was not card carrying and this is actually laid out in great detail in the piece very important
