today that the Brazilian footballing legend, Pele, has just passed away, aged 82, surrounded

by his family at the Albert Einstein Hospital in South Paulo, Brazil after a long, long battle

against cancer.

It's a dark day for football, to dark day for football fans, to dark day for Brazil,

Pele, the sports really, it's first superstar, the sports first, global build board, and

Icon, who thanks to a late cameo with the New York Cosmos, became the face of the

cameo in the United States too.

But who around the world was known as the embodiment of the joy and verve and potency and global

domination that was Brazil in its prime in the 60s and 70s.

He was a winner.

It's ultimately what he was, the man who scored the goals of one of the games that brought

the glory for a nation.

And just as a messier and elder debate, rages across global football today, that goat debate,

when I was a kid, there was a Pele Maradona debate, which was the one, recently bias, of

course, I should say, to declare my position, recently bias is the dominating move, and

I'd only seen Diego Maradona take the field live with my own eyes.
