It's unbelievable!

It's Roch. It's Friday. Yes, we made it to another week, but it is a week that ends in true darkness.

Yesterday's news out of the NWSL has been absolutely shattering.

If you didn't see the story, it was first reported in a devastatingly detailed piece in the athletic by the remarkable Meg Linnahann,

who documented over a dozen NWSL players accusing powerhouse North Carolina coach Paul Riley of sexual coercion throughout a career which span multiple teams,

and the possible leagues they seem back to 2010.

The courage fired Riley in the wake of the story, yet as a number of players have made clear,

the league had actually been informed of the coach's offenses on a number of occasions and totally failed to act.

This is another instance of men protecting men, not like what's going on with Ronaldo in the Premier League and the credible rape charges, which are essentially airbrushed out by every 95th minute when the goal of the Scores remaining their own kind of open secret.

And there's so much human darkness here, just another brutally heartbreaking reminder that creating spaces for women does not inherently mean creating safe spaces,

are it predators who swoop into positions of power inserting themselves, almost as troll-like gatekeepers praying on the hopes and the dreams of their victims.

And it hurts all the more because NWSL, a national women's soccer league, is meant to be a pathfinder.

It has provided inspiration for so many nation leagues around the world, that the women's game is currently growth wise in a global hyperdrive.

And that it's called the NWSL was meant to be a female driven culture lifting up women.

And yesterday, showed us it's actually rotten that it's hard allowing these behaviors to fester as open secrets is just sorrow inducing.

When I read the article, it makes peace and the responses, the dozens of responses and are all there from women, from the athletes, from coaches within the NWSL.

It was a reminder that this story stains every single level of the American gate.
