None of them have made fun of my accent. Like some of you.

It's Roch. It's Friday and we've made it to the end of another week. Hungover much.

Me too, friend, though. I'm sitting here, podding at 9.30 in the morning. Feels like mere minutes since we finish coverage of the magical experience.

It was Mexico, Neil, US men's national team, Neil. That vaunted rivalry really reduced to a pillow fight.

To which both teams turned up with neither pillows. Nor much fight down the stretch. My headaches, my body. It's quite bruised. I'm covered in my own up-chuck.

But let's dive in and relive that. Oh, largely forgettable crap fest of a performance bar from an American perspective.

Two searingly slapstick misses and one magnificent geo-rena-slalemning run like a little eel.

A move which ballads are being written off as we speak. Let's take a listen to the CBS commentary of that geo-rena-momental wonder.

Okay, okay. That was from the Azteca, but that was actually Diego Maradona's goal against England in 1986,

as commentated by the great victor Hugo Morales. A Hon Argentinian television, one of the greatest spontaneous lines of all time. Cosmic kite, which planet did you come from?

Leaving so many English players behind. And in this process, turning the country into a clench fist, shouting for Argentina.

God, all broadcasters, let's think, use that word Cosmic kite liberally. And often, I mean, my God, that was a moment from when the Azteca was really the Azteca.

I mean, one of the most fascinating learnings I've had from this past couple of days was when Hercules Gomez came on a preview podcast and told the story of how the NFL, Roger Gidell.

Yes, this is Roger Gidell actually doing something good inadvertently, maybe, but Mexico wanted the NFL to come and play in the Azteca, and Roger Gidell said, we will come, but first, you stadium authorities have to undergo an extreme makeover.

We need luxury boxes. We need money to be made. We need this place to essentially become a luxe version of the Azteca, and in so doing.

The Mexico stadium authorities have really knocked the old school stuffing out of that place. You hear the 1980s to 1990s, you hear these 2000s stories of what it was like to play in smog, and heating just a waterfall of fans cascading,

seething anger, and scorn and bags of piss of worse flung onto the field. There was none of that. And we will discuss more of this on the show, Mexico, ensure or not the Mexico of our imaginations in this cycle, the Azteca of dread and fear and intimidation and heat and all that is just, it's not, it's not what it was.

What is is not what was and wow, boy, did we miss an opportunity to deliver a historic victory last night? We saw it at the final whistle, really both teams stumbling off stage, knowing their performance had been yes underwhelming, but at the same time mission accomplished.
