| 0:38.9 | And this is an insed. |
| 0:40.8 | Just a quick reminder, insed stands for non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug. |
| 0:46.8 | Some of the common ensets, ibuprofen, naproxin, those are over-the-counter, |
| 0:52.0 | and probably the two most common that I see in practice. |
| 0:55.4 | But I do occasionally see molyxicam. |
| 0:58.8 | So with that mechanism of being an N-Sed, this medication inhibits Cox enzymes, |
| 1:07.5 | and specifically Cox 1 and Cox 2. |
| 1:11.6 | That ultimately reduces prostaglandin synthesis, |
| 1:15.6 | which can lead to a reduction in pain and inflammation. |
| 1:21.6 | Now let's talk specifically about Meloxicam. |
| 1:24.6 | Meloxicam tends to prefer Cox 2 over Cox 1. |
| 1:32.3 | Now, as you increase doses, that selectivity tends to go away, |
| 1:37.3 | and you get Cox 1 and Cox 2 inhibition. |
| 1:41.3 | But what that means is if we've got a little bit of a preference towards cox two inhibition |
