It's Bolzai. I'm Jesse Thorne. My next guest this week, the comedian and actor Megan Stalter,

excels at playing a very particular kind of character. They're usually self-confident,

to the extreme, and they rarely possess the skills to back up their bravado.

Now, that isn't especially unique in comedy anyway. In fact, behind, I don't know, bad doctor, it's maybe the most common type of comedy

character. But what they lack in real world skills make Stalter's characters make up for

Stalter plays Kayla Schaefer, an assistant to Paul W. Downs' showbiz manager.

Schaefer is bad at her job, wildly inappropriate, but again, charming.

Hi. You told me to, like, interrupt you one more important client's call, and Deborah Vance is on the line, and, like, she's not, like, as important. So I'm just, like, kind of giving you a heads up. Kayla, can you set her up some more comfortable, please? Absolutely. Follow me, chica. We're right in the middle of something. Deborah, perfect timing. How are you? My favorite client.

When we talked last year, Stalter had also just starred in the movie Cora Bora, which is now available on video.

Meg plays the title character. Cora has moved to L.A. from Oregon to make a go at being a singer-songwriter.

She's in a long-distance relationship with her girlfriend, Justine.

They say they're open, so they're seeing other people.

But Cora starts to worry that she's losing Justine for good,

so she returns to Portland to win her back.

In this clip, Cora has arrived at her girlfriend's graduation party

to find Justine and Riley, her new flame, even closer than she had imagined. She's even become friends with Justine's parents. Well, you are Judas and you are Judas. You're the one who kept asking us to come over here and pack up more things to send to you in L.A. Riley was just helping. I'm sure she was. So nice. Anyway, it turns out that Riley is a massage therapist.
