Welcome to meet the press now. I'm Kelly O'Donnell on day 42 of the government shutdown.

As much of official Washington is pausing to observe Veterans Day.

But the federal government is now one step closer to reopening after last night when the Senate

passed a bipartisan deal to end the shutdown with exactly the 60 votes needed.

Eight members of the Democratic caucus voted with Republicans, even though this does not include Democrats' central demand of an extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies, those members defending their votes.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries opposes the bill and is encouraging his members to vote no, calling on Democrats
