As the country braces for former President Trump's potential indictment, which would mark the first time in American history, a former U.S. president has ever faced criminal charges.

Mr. Trump set off a firestorm over the weekend when he claimed, without evidence, that he was going to be arrested tomorrow in the Manhattan DA's investigation into hush money payments he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
