border deal and the other seeks the impeachment of the country's top

immigration official. All the while President Biden is asking Congress to give him more power to address the issue. I've asked for the very day I got it off.

Give me the border for goals.

Give me the people, give me the people the judges.

Give me the people who can stop this and make it work for action.

It comes after the president said over the weekend that he would quote shut down the border if Congress gave him the authority and two sources familiar with negotiations tell NBC News that the bipartisan Senate plan, which is being negotiated right now, would grant

that authority if certain levels of migrant crossings were reached.

But House Speaker Mike Johnson remains defiant,

saying that any deal would be dead on arrival in the House.

It seems the new authority to shut down the border

would kick in only after as many as 5,000 illegal crossings happen each day.

Why? Why would we do that?
