I am Kristen Welker in Washington, where we are following multiple breaking news stories at this hour.

After some dramatic moments on the House floor this afternoon, Mike Johnson was

0:22.2

re-elected as the Speaker of the House and the 119th Congress is now open for business.

0:28.8

Johnson technically won the election on the first ballot after receiving 218 votes, the bare

0:34.9

majority necessary to be elected speaker. Now, we are also expecting an update

0:39.7

from Las Vegas. Officials any minute now from authorities in Las Vegas as they work to determine

2:01.1

2:06.0

this incident. I believe we've done that and you'll hear much more about that as we move

2:10.1

forward today. We've also, today I'm going to be able to share with you some of what we

2:15.1

believe to be his plans and motives as to why he conducted

2:20.1

this attack. Now before we go on, I want to just address a couple of things before we get too far
