I'm Aaron Gilchrist in Washington, where President Trump and French President Macron just wrapped up a joint news conference.

The two leaders met today at the White House as Ukraine reached another grim milestone.

Three years since Russia launched its invasion.

Macron's visit comes amid growing concern in Europe and Ukraine

about America's continued commitment to that region. U.S. allies remain concerned that the U.S.

and Russia could agree to a peace deal without Ukraine at the table. Now, in recent days, President

Trump has called President Zelensky a dictator and falsely said Ukraine started the war.

In a meeting in the Oval Office before that press conference, President Trump once again would not answer whether he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is a dictator.

If the president called Zelensky a dictator, would you use the same words regarding Putin?

I don't use those words lightly.

I think that we're going to see how it all works out.

Let's see what happens.

Now, President Trump also once again said that he believes that Putin wants a peace deal

and that Putin was one of his first calls as president.

President Trump said he believes a deal to end the war as well as a deal for U.S. access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals could be coming soon.
