I'm Cerise Castle, and this is a tradition of violence. In the lead-up to the primary election on June 2nd,

I'm sitting down with all of the candidates for sheriff. The race hasn't really been covered,

and it's important that voters have a full picture of who's running. Today I'm going to be speaking

with Oscar Martinez, a lieutenant at the Palmdale station. Oscar is a proponent of the constitutional

sheriff's movement, which fals proponent of the constitutional sheriff's

movement, which falsely asserts that local sheriff's power supersedes that of local government,

state and federal legislatures, even the authority of the president of the United States.

Oscar is running on an extremely conservative platform. He promises to implement more

authorities and introduce AI across the department. He wants to see the department cut down its use of force

policy in favor of something resembling what he used as a Marine in a war zone. He said he would

fight lawsuits brought against the department in spite of an elevated cost to taxpayers.

Oscar told me he has never seen any deputy gangs in that he doubts the validity of families who

have been harassed by deputies. And he even told me that deputies have the right to have swastika

tattoos. A conversation is an illuminating look at some of the ideas that are percolating

within the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
