Let's dive into this episode. Meditation on God's word made simple. In our culture,

there's a lot of focus on meditation. The focus is on breathing. There's a lot of yoga classes.

And just the whole culture seems to deal with anxiety, stress and all of that comes with living life

and they're doing it with tools that they have at their disposal.

And some things are actually demonic, not helpful.

The Bible talks about meditation and we need to reclaim the biblical practice of meditation.

Meditation in the nutshell is deep thinking on the truths of God's Word.

Meditation on God's word is like letting the Bible brew in your brain. And this meditation will color

our thinking like tea colors the water. Now I'm going to mention 10 things about meditation,

as mentioned in the Bible. And then we're going to also talk about practically how do we meditate.

Now the first thing is the biblical definition of meditation.

The Bible uses two Hebrew words to convey the idea of meditation and together they are used some 58 times.

The first word literally means to utter in a low sound.

The word is used to denote the growling of a lion, Isaiah 31 verse 4,

and the cooing of a dove, Isaiah 38, verse 14. Therefore, it's been suggested that in ancient

Hebrew meditation, scripture frequently was recited in a low murmur. Now, the second root word for

meditation has a basic meaning of to be preoccupied with or concerned about. Thus, the meditation is a

repetitious going over a matter in one's mind because it is the chief concern of life. The constant

recollection of God's past deeds by the hearing of the scriptures and repetition of thought

produce confidence in God. Kind of like, think about sitting of the scriptures and the repetition of thought produce confidence in God.
