The way that we've set up our system is so cruel to make people dependent upon us as the taxpayer, and to take away the sense that they can

become dependent on themselves. Philosophy is a servant. It always needs to be a servant. It can't be

the way to disaster. You are going down the road to destruction.

The headline in the Washington Post, Hope makes rare comments on U.S. politics, military gathering, is, well, it tells part of the story. I don't know if these comments are rare.

It seems a little early in the Pope's tenure to say that he's not going to comment very often

on U.S. politics. He is, after all, and native of the United States.
