Summary

In this episode, Douglas Wilson opens with commentary on Candace Owens and the fallout surrounding Charlie Kirk's assassination, then turns to Scripture’s language about an evil and adulterous generation, spiritual unfaithfulness, and the way false teachers exploit lust under religious pretenses, before closing with a review of David Talcott’s Plato and a reflection on whether Plato deserves a more sympathetic reading than he is often given.

So, welcome to the podcast. My name is Douglas Wilson. This is episode 422. I've not talked about

0:26.0

Candace a lot here. Maybe not at all, but I don't think I've talked about her a lot. And I do

0:33.7

want to say a few things here. Her behavior, since the Charlie Kirk assassination, has been so outrageous, so over the top, so wicked, that it sort of takes the breath away.

0:50.4

And the only thing that's mysterious about it, in my mind, the only thing that's mysterious about it is why it's taken turning point so long to file a defamation lawsuit. Because here's the situation. When Candice sort of was the conservative rights DEI hire, she sort of launched out of the, came from the left wing

1:15.4

and put together a thing called blexit, you know, blacks exiting the Democratic Party. And

1:22.6

Republicans were so, conservatives were so tired of being accused to being racist and whatnot that they jumped

1:31.9

on having a bright, articulate young black woman representing them, espousing a conservative cause.

1:40.4

And she was with different conservative organizations.

1:46.7

She was with Turning Point for a while.

1:50.0

She was with Dennis Prager for a while.

1:52.8

She was with Daily Wire for a while.

1:55.3

And then, you know, things kept going south on her.

1:58.3

And then she went out sort of on her own. Now, the thing that,

2:02.8

one of the things that people don't realize is that her departure from turning point was

2:11.2

kind of sour, and one of the terms of her leaving turning point was she had to sign a non-disparagement

2:20.8

agreement.

2:22.7

All right.

2:23.2

So all the things that she's been saying about turning point are things that she's been

2:28.4

saying about an organization with whom she has a non-disparagement agreement.

2:36.5

Okay.

2:37.7

She agreed to not talk trash about Turning Point, and here she is talking sort of the ultimate

2:45.1

in trash.
