If you want to start a meadow, whether it be a mini one, a large one, there are some

do's and don't, some things that you really need to consider, and some things that you

need to avoid, much like with any other style of gardening.

So we've got Mike, the seed man, LaZop, back on the show, the author of many meadows and

owner and partner over at American Meadows.

So Mike, when I hear meadow in my mind, if I rewind to maybe three, four years ago when

I was a little bit newer in gardening, I would get overwhelmed just hearing it's like,

how am I going to start a meadow in my yard?

It just seems so overwhelming, like you're crafting this whole ecosystem.

And so if someone's got the standard suburban backyard and they want to do some sort of meadow

action, where does someone begin with planning that out?

Sure.

And it's funny you say that because you talk about being overwhelmed and I think first and

foremost, you know, if somebody has a piece of their property and they're thinking about

it is, you know, there's nothing wrong with starting small, something that you can manage

because it's inevitable when we start a gardening project, life just gets in the way.

And all that weeding, we thought we were going to do and all the work we're going to

do, all the sudden, you know, just things get put to the side.

And so always setting the expectation for the customer as far as how much time and effort

are you going to put into it?

And hey, even if you have 500 square feet, maybe you're only going to start with 50 square

feet because my goal is to set you up with success.
