I love James because he's not messing around and primarily because James is

leading the early church of followers of Jesus. Just catching us up a little

bit because I know everybody doesn't get here every week but what James is so

intent on is helping us understand how essential it is that we live in this

house together and we build it up because for James church is not optional,

family is not optional. This is a very family letter. So if you're new to faith

and we've had people all day here and our other gatherings that first time to

church in a long time or first time to church ever and if that's one of you

tonight, you know we're talking a little bit about our family tonight about the

followers of Christ and what church is supposed to be like and what James is saying

is church is not one of the things we do in life and I want to amplify that

not because I'm the pastor and I'm supposed to say that because that is the

best thing that all of us can hear. It's not that it's my life and then I have

my school over here or if you're older I have my job, my business, my career,

whatever I have my free time so that's when I run or read or whatever it is that

you like to do hanging out with your friends or then over here I've got my

family and over here of course I have church and maybe there's something else

I'm missing and those are all the segments of your life. I don't think God is

seeing it that way for us. He is seeing that our lives are supposed to be

planted in a family and we have been planted in a family. You've got one and

you're in one that's the way life has been designed. You don't just pop out on

planet earth as a solo artist but you are born into a family unit and you got
