You know, it wasn't that long ago that companies were championing their efforts to be good corporate citizens, remember?

Many did so by launching environmental, social, and governance initiatives called ESG, for short, to promote their commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and people.

But the times, they are a-changing.

ESG has come under fire from some critics who dismiss it as unnecessary. Dubbed, quote, woke capitalism by conservative policymakers,

legislators in more than half of U.S. states have passed some form of anti-ESG laws. These laws
