There is a budget deal in place. The details are interesting, the nerdier and wonkier. You are,

the more you can question the validity of the details and the strength of the deal. But the fact is

there is a deal and the deal leans to the right. Certainly more to the right than if they had

just passed a clean debt ceiling without a deal. A lot of people on the right are complaining that

it doesn't go far enough or that it betrays certain aspects of things. But Kevin McCarthy,

Harnest, his authority as the leader of the House, as a Republican leader of the House,

to push Joe Biden into budget cutting, even if the budget cutting is limited and

in the only discretionary spending. And there are questions about the craziness of limiting

defense spending in the second year, which is 2025, to a 1% growth when we are currently

accelerating our commitment to Ukraine, which not only means that they're going to be more money,

but we're going to need more money to replenish the stocks of weaponry and things that we are

sending to them. And we are clearly hampering our ability to do that. But of course, that sort of

thing can lead to emergency appropriations. And that sort of thing at the right time, if there is

a national consensus that that spending is valuable, and we're going to get into some reasons why
