Welcome back to the Football Guys Daily Update. You give us 10 minutes. We'll give you everything you need to know to make you the most informed fantasy football player in your league. I'm Mike Dempsey alone with football guys own Bob Harrison. Bob, this should be a celebratory time. The NFL season has kicked off. We've got one game under our belts. But we get the news late last evening that Christian McCaffery is finally dealing with an injury

0:24.0

this all season, a calf issue that had him limited in practice, which harkens back to the

0:29.5

calf injury that ruined his season last year. He was limited. So that means he did participate

0:34.4

to some degree. We don't know that he participated, then got hurt,

0:38.0

and then he had to leave. We don't know a whole lot about this, Bob. How big of a bombshell is this potentially for fantasy managers? Well, it's going to give everybody the cold sweats who's invested in Christian McCraffrey because of the way it worked last year, right? This was the same. well last year though it's not the same last year all offseason he was nursing an issue uh he was not

0:40.0

working year, right? This was the same. Well, last year, though, it's not the same. Last year, all

0:54.2

offseason, he was nursing an issue. He was not working in training camp, came back before

1:00.2

the first week, started working out. It was a little bit limited then. They said he would play

1:05.4

the Friday before the Monday night game, and he did not play. This time, he's been going

1:10.0

all along. The reports have been all

1:11.7

positive throughout the course of training camp there have been no reports of issues uh and so again

1:16.8

we thought he was going to be fine for week one last year and then he missed two months uh with

1:20.3

achilles tendinitis some would suggest the achilles and calf are very close together uh so that's

1:25.3

concerned well obviously we're watching this one closely over the next, what, 48 hours leading up to kickoff. Today's practice could tell us a lot, right? Like if he works fully, there are no issues, he'll be fine. You could end up being questionable. It's this late afternoon kickoff against the Seahawks on Sunday. And the newly acquired Brian Robinson, Jr. is next man up at the position. This is one we're going to be watching, Mike, all weekend long. No doubt about it, Bob. It goes without saying different league sizes, if Brian Robinson's available, whether you're the McCaffrey manager or not, go grab him, if at all possible. Would you extend that beyond that, Isaac Arendo? Does he become more interesting? Are you going to cut it there at Brian Robinson? I'm going to probably cut it at Brian Robinson, Jr. I think a lot of people invested in Garando before, you know, they acquired Brian Robinson Jr. But it sounds like he's the clear cut too. And, you know, there are going to be people out there saying, oh, I'm putting some dots together. No wonder they got Brian Robinson, Jr.

2:55.3

Oh, we'll see. This has all got to play out. We're fresh off the press. So we'll find out more with today's practice. All right. We have one game in the books. We also found out that Jane Blue is not the handcuff, at least not in the first week. He wasn't. He was inactive last night for Dallas. Javante Williams look good, Bob. At least for now, looks like Javante is a guy that you can comfortably start as a flex, maybe even a little bit better. Yeah, I think that's absolutely the case. Both these offenses look like they'll be fine this year. But Javonte Williams seems like the play. Jane Blue had a little ankle issue over the course of this over the course of trading camp. Sounds like they're slow rolling them in. The field was wet, et cetera. So we'll see how that plays out.

2:57.5

But it's definitely Williams for sure right now.

3:03.6

All right. Tonight we've got another game. So let's deal with this running back situation for the Chargers.

3:09.0

We had a report yesterday that Najee Harris was going to start. That has been debunked.

3:15.1

Bob, what are we hearing and what do we know about the running back usage for the LA Chargers tonight? Yeah, if you saw the ESPN report from Nate Taylor, who covers the cheese for ESPN,

3:19.1

but he's in Brazil reporting on this game, he basically reported that Jim, Jim Harbaugh said that Donji Harris is expected

3:26.5

to be the starter. That is not what Jim Harbaugh told Rich Eisen, who was covering the game and

3:31.5

met with him in the pre-broadcast meeting. And Harbaugh told him, no question about it.
