What do you need to have in order to have a business on your hands?

A lot of people don't talk about this, but this is so important, so important that we made it

our first session on the $100 MBA show.

So let's get down a business and talk about it.

So what do you need to have a business on your hands? So the first thing that's important

is that you need to actually offer something in exchange for monetary gain. Now this may sound

obvious but a lot of people have projects that they call businesses like a blog and

there is no exchange, there's no money changing hands.

If you have a blog that has high traffic and you're selling ad space, that is a business.

Maybe people won't think of it as a typical business,

but it's still a business because you're selling ad space.

So yes, eight-year-old Kimberly with a lemonade stand

is a business.

She's selling lemonade for a dollar. There is an exchange there.

Even if there's no exchange one-to-one where money is still changing hands, it's still a

business. So for example a real estate agent, they are making a cut on the sale.
