Welcome back to an unprecedented part three of our coverage, continuing as it is of the

life of Maya Angelou.

In part two, we talked about Maya's return to her son Guy after an overseas tour with

Porgian Bass.

We talked about her entertainment career, the beginnings of her civil rights work with

Martin Luther King Jr., her relationship and life with African civil rights leader

Vazoumzi Make and her life without him in Ghana, West Africa.

So Maya in Africa had received frequent updates on the civil rights situation in America,

from her hero co-worker, some might say, and friend Malcolm X.

I saw a video of old Malcolm X and he's quite charming on video, lest we forget.

And he said to the reporter, no, if you put a knife, nine inches into my back, and you

pull it out six inches, I do not consider that progress.

The knife must be removed for the scar to be able to heal.

And I totally subscribed to that philosophy.

However, he was also the same guy that said the Kennedy assassination was nothing more than

and I quote, chickens coming home to roost.

So you can see how he might have enemies from many quarters.

And I'm sure we don't have to tell you that his work was bringing danger to himself and

his family.

Death threats were daily occurrence.

You never really knew his phone number because he had to change it so often.
