Here are your Washington headlines of the day.

Number one, Chuck Schumer's Gamble.

Number two, domestic terrorism bill up today in the Senate.

And number three, the new big tech regulation.

Let's get into it.

Set a majority leader, Chuck Schumer, who has been majority leader for 490 days,

did something interesting yesterday.

He went to the Senate floor and said that he understands the inclination to just put up a background check bill,

a gun background check bill for a vote in the wake of the horrible massacre in Yuvalde, Texas.

But instead, he was going to try to work with Republicans to get a gun deal.

Now, this is not Schumer's instinct.

Schumer's instinct would be to draw that contrast between Republicans and Democrats.

That would be his, that's his natural inclination.

But instead, he's casting his lot with Chris Murphy, the Connecticut Democrat, in a bid to get that gun control deal after these back-to-back deadly shootings in his home state, in Schumer's home state of Buffalo and in Texas.
