0:00.0	Hi friends, I am Annie F Downs. Let's read the Gospels. Well, let's read what happened right after the Gospels.
0:08.0	The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
0:12.0	These are the stories of Jesus Christ
0:14.3	life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles.
0:19.2	And the Book of Acts picks up right where the Gospels ends and takes us into the birth of the church, the
0:24.1	continued ministry of the disciples, and the conversion and first years of Paul's
0:28.2	ministry as well. Remember to the Jews and the Gentiles. This is the book that answers the question, so then what happened and what do we do now?
0:36.1	So here is how this works. I'm going to read one chapter to you today. You can listen or read along in your own Bible.
0:41.6	You can watch on YouTube and then maybe I'll just
0:44.0	reflect a little bit on what we read and then I'll pray and that's it. So today is
0:47.9	day 17 and I'll be reading acts 17 and the new living translation.
0:57.1	Act 17, Paul and Silas then traveled through the towns of Amphipolis and
1:02.1	Apollonia and came to Thessalyika where there was a Jewish
1:05.8	synagogue. As was Paul's custom, he went to the synagogue service and for three Sabbath's in a row he used
1:12.1	the scriptures to reason with the people.
1:14.0	He explained the prophecies and proved that the Messiah must suffer and rise from the dead.
1:18.6	He said, this Jesus I'm telling you about is the Messiah.
1:23.2	Some of the Jews who listened were persuaded and joined
1:25.7	Paul and Silas, along with many God-fearing Greek men
1:29.0	and quite a few prominent women.
1:31.3	But some of the Jews were jealous, so they gathered some troublemakers from the marketplace to form a mob and start a riot.
1:37.0	They attacked the home of Jason, searching for Paul and Silas, so they could drag them out to the crowd.
