0:00.0	Hi friends I am Annie F Downs. Let's read the Gospels. Well, let's read what happened right after the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories of Jesus
0:14.7	Christ life on Earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles.
0:20.1	And the book of acts that we are reading right now picks up right where the
0:23.4	Gospels ends and takes us into the birth of the church, the continued ministry
0:27.7	of the disciples, and the conversion and first years of Paul's ministry as well. This is the book that answers a lot of
0:34.4	questions for us including so then what happened after Jesus was on earth and
0:39.1	what do we do now? So here's how this works. I'm gonna read one chapter to you today. You can listen, you can watch on YouTube,
0:45.0	or you can read along in your own Bible, and then I'll reflect for just a second and then I'll pray and that's it.
0:50.0	So today is day 16, and I'll be reading Acts chapter 16 in the new living
0:55.3	translation.
0:58.8	Acts 16. Paul went first to Derby and then to Listra, where there was a young disciple named Timothy.
1:06.8	His mother was a Jewish believer, but his father was a Greek.
1:10.4	Timothy was well thought of by the believers in Listra and Iconium, so Paul wanted him to join them on their journey.
1:16.0	In deference to the Jews of the area, he arranged for Timothy to be circumcised before they left,
1:21.0	for everyone knew that his father was a Greek. Then they went
1:24.4	from town to town instructing the believers to follow the decisions made by the
1:28.4	Apostles and elders in Jerusalem. So the churches were strengthened in their
1:32.2	faith and grew larger every day.
1:34.0	Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Frisia and Galatia because the Holy
1:39.6	Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time.
1:44.2	Then coming to the border of Myia, they headed north for the province of Bethania.
1:49.8	But again, the spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. So instead they went on through
