0:00.0	Hi friends I am Annie F Downs. Let's read the Gospels. Well let's read what happened right after the
0:06.8	Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew,
0:10.6	Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories of Jesus Christ life on Earth,
0:14.4	the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles.
0:18.6	And the Book of Acts picks up right where the Gospels ends and takes us into the birth of the church, the continued ministry of the disciples,
0:25.8	and the conversion and first years of Paul's ministry as well.
0:30.0	And what we've been reading in the last few days, the invitation to the Gentiles to join in with what Jesus is already doing.
0:36.9	It's been so fun this week. This is the book that answers the question, so then what happened and what do we do now?
0:44.1	So here's how this works.
0:45.2	I'm gonna read one chapter to you today.
0:47.4	You can listen, you can watch on YouTube,
0:49.6	you can read along in your own Bible,
0:51.1	and then I'll maybe reflect a little bit on what we read and
0:53.9	then I'll pray and that's it. So today is day 12 and I'll be reading acts chapter 12

1:07.0	Acts 12. About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church. He had the apostle James, John's brother,
1:15.9	killed with a sword. When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish people he also arrested
1:21.2	Peter. This took place during the Passover celebration.
1:25.7	Then he imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each.
1:30.6	Hered intended to bring Peter out for public trial after the Passover, but while
1:34.8	Peter was imprisoned the church prayed very earnestly for him. The night before
1:39.4	Peter was to be placed on trial he was asleep fastened with two chains between two
