Last night, we got a taste of how she might respond this morning after her party is expected to take away her leadership position.

She gave a short but defiant speech on the House floor last night,

addressing what's bringing House Republicans to the Capitol basement this morning for a vote.

Her criticism of former President Donald Trump's lies and

conspiracy theories regarding his 2020 loss. Remaining silent and ignoring the lie emboldens the liar.

I will not participate in that. I will not sit back and watch in silence while others lead our party down a path that abandons

the rule of law and joins the former president's crusade to undermine our democracy.

Let me translate that for you. Game on. Or as the New York Times put it last night, quote,

rather than fighting to hold onto her post,

Ms. Cheney has embraced her downfall.
