| 0:50.2 | All right, friend of Jerry episode 23 I'm here with Max Crosby Max |
| 0:55.4 | Thanks for coming on and also congratulations new deal new house |
| 1:00.5 | Baby girl on the way so congrats to you man |
| 1:03.3 | Yes, sir. I appreciate you man. Thanks for having me on yeah, man, for sure. So I've been following you for like the last, I don't know, I'd say close to a year now and it, you know, your story is so inspiring. We've had your teammate Darren Waller on the show which was awesome, he was a great guest. Before I get into the story, I want to, I want to stats here uh... and let and if you can tell me the player that'd be great so you came to the league in two thousand nineteen right so i'm alright most cubie sacks uh... since two thousand nineteen most quarterback hits since two thousand nineteen most tackles for law since two thousand nineteen mostumble since 2019 who's that player he got it i was hoping he'd say himself hey um... so who do you do look up to him as a football player because you know you guys you guys pretty much play the same style of football. You guys pretty much do the same thing every single play, rush the quarterback. Is he somebody you model your game after? Um, you know, I feel like, you know, obviously I definitely look up to him. As far as modeling my game after, I feel like, you know, everybody has their own way of looking at it. Like me personally, I've always watched everybody. Like I would literally watch every single past russia that plays my position in the league and interior guys as well. So for me, I don't try to model my game after anybody. I just try to make, you know, I try to take things from everybody. Just little things that I could possibly put into my game and try it out. But yeah, for me, it's just constantly evolving and trying to become a better version of myself is what I do. And obviously TJ, he's a buddy of mine. We were at the pro bowl all week together and talking ball the whole time. So yeah, we had a blast. And even during to, you know, they were trying to slow us down a little bit, but we were, you know, we |
| 3:07.8 | were rushing from the same side and running games and having a lot of fun. So yeah, being around, you know, guys like TJ is a ton of fun. He's a hell of a player. Yeah, for sure, man, I always try to, I keep this handy on me. So this right here is pretty much it's a list of a bunch of stats that that that prove why he's the best |
| 3:27.2 | defensive player in football today at this point. But yeah, I always try to bust people's balls with this, especially in the office, you know, Big Cat, he always, you know, tells me Aaron Donald's the best player and it is what it is. But, Mac, so we had Darren Waller on, he was a great guest, he shared a bit of his story, I see you got this sobriety chains looks like a pretty expensive chain I'm not gonna ask you how much but it's a beautiful chain. I actually asked my Jewelard and make something similar to that and I just can't afford it but on the sobriety chains legit. It's awesome Like I said, we had Darren Waller on he was a great guest How do you guys do you guys talk about kind of stuff, the sobriety stuff and what you guys went through? Because you guys are on the same team. You guys ever have conversations like that? Yeah, me and Darren, obviously, we've been teammates ever since I got on the lead. So just being around him, my rookie year, I wasn't sober, I was partying and doing my thing. So that was towards the end of my run. |
| 4:27.4 | So I kind of, you know, it's crazy how things work out and I truly believe, you know, things happen for a reason. And you know, just being able to see him in his story and how it took his career down a whole other pathway, you know, that's something I looked up to him even when I couldn't even see it myself. So yeah, you know, having guys like that in the locker room is |
| 4:47.8 | incredible. And yeah, like me, having guys like that in the locker room is incredible. |
| 4:48.3 | And yeah, like me and Dan, we're in the same meeting every Tuesday together and um, Oh nice, you guys go and AA meeting together? Yeah, we go to a meeting every Tuesday and um, you know, we talk about stuff all the You know, it's not just sobriety. We've just talked about life in general and um, for sure, you know, he's a he's a great |
| 5:02.9 | Dude so yeah, having him around is been incredible. Yeah, it's pretty awesome. pretty awesome you know you guys are like you know I'm sure there's other players in the NFL that you know have struggled in the past with addiction issues and stuff but it seems like you two guys are super open about it and that I appreciate because like for a guy like me doing this show I'm not here to you know tell war stories or anything like that all i'm here to do is you know get guests like you on and either even regular people just to share their story and be open about the topic so i appreciate you know you guys being so open about it uh... did did you struggle like was it early on or was it like later in your in your life where you started to have a problem with alcohol? Honestly, I knew I wasn't normal from the day I started drinking. I never could just have one drink and be cool. I just have a couple beers of the guys. I was always that guy that was blacked out and puking and that was always that guy. So it felt a hole for me for a long time, but it ended up being like you know what almost took me out at the same time you know for many many years you know I always battled it and I knew deep down it was an issue. And yeah it just got progressively worse and worse and I feel like the more freedom I got as far as like off the field the worse it got |
| 6:27.2 | And um, it's kind of crazy because like my last year at college like my coach |
| 6:32.5 | You know, I got a DIY right before my last year and I and I got suspended for a game and I had to do a bunch of community service |
