And in a little bit, I'm going to be talking to Gisela Salim Pyer, who is a writer for The Atlantic.

And she wrote an article all about the Saccote prison in El Salvador.

And so we're going to talk about the conditions there, the recent prisoner swap that happened, et cetera.

But before we get there, let me empty my notebook on a couple of items.

We've gotten some additional clarity, I guess, on the question of what's going on with

this Epstein story.

And it was reported that Trump's deputy attorney general, who is his former personal attorney, has been meeting with

Ghislane Maxwell and Maxwell's attorney. And I think there was a two-day meeting there

where she was offered limited immunity. And so there's stuff going on there. I'll come back to that

in a second.

This prompted people to wonder, like, is Trump or his Department of Justice floating a pardon for Maxwell?

Let's go to a clip of Trump being asked about this.

Mr. President, if you clearly rule out a pardon for Galane Maxwell when you landed, is that something you would ever consider it?

Pardon for who? For Galane Maxwell. Well, I'm allowed to give her a pardon, but nobody's approached

me with it. Nobody's asked me about it. It's in the news about that, that aspect of it, but

right now it would be inappropriate to talk about it so so this is

notable because this is a person who has been credibly accused and convicted of conspiring and

being involved in a pedophilia ring and a sex trafficking ring. And when asked about whether you

would pardon that person, it should be a pretty simple no, but Trump, for whatever reason,

appears unwilling to close the door there. And so we could speculate as to why, right? I think
