| 0:20.0 | Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. |
| 0:23.4 | Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for. |
| 0:26.4 | I'm especially offering this rosary this evening for the repose of the soul of Ralph Meese, a great man with a great group of sons. |
| 0:38.4 | We continue to offer this for the healing of little Olivia Canili and for little five-year-old Thomas |
| 0:46.6 | Lauer who is suffering and recovering we pray from cancer. |
| 0:55.5 | Now today we continue to reflect on the teaching of Jesus and the sermon on the |
| 0:58.8 | mount. In Matthew chapter 5, Jesus says, |
| 1:05.3 | If your right hand should cause you to sin, tear it out, and throw it away. |
| 1:06.9 | But it will do you less harm to lose one part of you |
| 1:10.6 | than have your whole body thrown into hell. And if your right hand should cause you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. |
| 1:16.2 | Or it will do you less harm to lose one part of you |
| 1:20.4 | than to have your whole body go to hell. So here Jesus affirms the reality of |
| 1:26.5 | hell and the possibility of going there by one's own free choice. The |
| 1:32.0 | catacism says that the teaching of Jesus on this subject of hell is a call |
| 1:37.0 | to the responsibility incumbent upon all of us to make use of our freedom and view of our eternal destiny. |
| 1:45.0 | It is at the same time an urgent call to conversion. |
| 1:50.0 | A little later on in the Sermon on the Mount Jesus will say, |
| 1:55.0 | Enter by the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction. |
| 2:01.0 | And those who enter by it are many, for the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life. |
| 2:10.1 | And those who find it are few. |
