Summary

We live in a materialistic world and it is very easy to get enamored with physical things. God's people must get their attention off of temporal things and onto spiritual realities. The Lord is always at work in our lives, teaching, purging, guiding, and strengthening.

In the little book of Haggian, we learn great truth about his work in us and how we are to work with him.

Welcome to God's Construction Zone. Let's join Scott Pauley now as we studied together.

I have enjoyed so much our time in this little book of Hagiae. We've walked through these two chapters

0:42.5

and they're beautiful. I hope you'll read them and meditate on them and make them your own. It's a powerful

0:47.8

book to study. We've come today in our final session in this particular little book of the Bible to a powerful truth.

Haggat chapter 2 is all about not missing God. Remember they're rebuilding the temple. They

1:01.9

1:26.3

He's the one who makes it great. Don't miss God. And in that

1:30.5

passage, we've learned two powerful truths already. First, we learned not to miss the present by looking

1:36.5

at the past. So don't look at yesterday and the good old days. No, look at today. And say to

1:43.3

yourself, what does the Lord want to do in the

1:44.7

present tense? Then we learn not to miss who is for us by looking at who's against us.

1:50.3

They got so concerned about their enemies that they weren't consumed enough with the God who was

1:55.2

with them. So the Lord has to remind them, I'm with you. But now I give you a third and final

1:59.6

truth about not missing God.

2:01.5

And it is this, don't miss the spiritual by looking at the material. You know, we live in a very

2:07.3

materialistic world. Granted, we have to have things to live and God provides everything we need.

2:13.0

Aren't you grateful to God for that? But if you're not careful careful you can get so enamored with things with
