The Lord is always at work in our lives, teaching, purging, guiding, and strengthening.

In the little book of Haggian, we learn great truth about his work in us and how we are to work with him.

There's nothing more encouraging than when a dear friend comes alongside you in your hour of need

and says, look, I'm with you, man.

I'm praying for you, I'm pulling for you, and I just want you to know I'm here.

If you need me, I'm with you.

When you come to Haggayah, Chapter 2, that's exactly what the Lord says to his people.

Oh, aren't you glad we have a friend that sticketh closer than a brother?

Aren't you glad we have that friend who promised I will never leave thee nor forsake thee?

He says in Haggiat chapter 2, verse 4, yet now be strong, O Zarubimabal, saith the Lord,

and be strong, O Joshua, son ofable, saith the Lord, and be strong, O Joshua, son of

Josadek the high priest, and be strong all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work for I am with you,

saith the Lord of host. We're learning in this passage not to miss God. We've learned, first of all, not to miss our present by looking at our past.

And now we're talking about not missing who is for us by looking at simply who's against us.

These people were so concerned about their enemies,

those who were fighting against the work of rebuilding the temple,

those who are laughing and mocking, those who are belittling them.

They had forgotten that they had the Creator God of the universe, the same God who brought them out of Egypt.

As a matter of fact, he reminds him of that in verse 5, according to the word that I covenant with you when you came out of Egypt.

So my spirit remaineth among you, fear ye not.

The same God who brought them out of Egypt was with them now
