0:06.0	I'd like to share with you this week Mary Pearl Tees thoughts on Step 1. Good morning. My name is Mary Pearl. I'm an Allenun who likes to be
0:29.6	happy joyous and free. The reason I always say that is because are there any members of the other
0:38.4	fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous in the room? Well, I went to a meeting one night, a speaker meeting and they asked me
0:47.6	if I would share that night and I heard a comment from a couple of them and they said oh God we've got to listen to another
0:55.0	suffering Illinois and I thought no no, you're going to suffer.
1:14.8	And so when I got up, I said, for the benefit of those three over there, if y'all would like to leave now you may before I start suffering. No I like to know that recovery in my life means that I can be
1:21.9	happy joyous and free and you know oh I love this this rocks and it has over my life you know I've had a lot of things happen just like you have because in here we learn we have to live life on life's terms.
1:38.5	And sometimes life can be really crappy with its terms. I'm here to tell you. But you know sooner or later I have to
1:46.0	come back to being happy joyous and free or I couldn't get through stuff. You know, and so God
1:51.1	has blessed me with the ability sometimes to see something funny or even bizarre in the midst of a bunch of garbage, you know.
2:00.0	And so I like to know that.
2:02.0	But I want to tell you first that I am a member of the Rose City Big Book Black Belt
2:06.3	Alanon Family Group.
2:08.1	We believe in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, which isn't always popular a lot of places, but it's more popular in the South.
2:18.0	And we do study that in addition to our Al-Anon literature. We take the program... We do
2:25.0	the program very seriously, but we don't take ourselves very seriously at all.
2:28.0	You know, we have learned to lighten up.
2:32.0	Everything is not the end of the world in such a big deal. It's
2:35.9	not all about me, mostly, but not all. You know, and I want to tell you to begin with that I'm not an authority on
2:45.4	Al-An-An-A-N-12 steps or anything I'm going to share with you my experience.
2:51.1	You know if I tell you about my ideas and my thoughts and whatever you can argue with those but you cannot argue with my experience
