Hey there, Sprouts. Today is August 17th, 2018. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we have been talking about Mary. So far, we've talked about her immaculate conception, meaning that she was born without sin.

Next, we talked about how Mary, as a mother of Jesus,

said yes to God and trusted him every step of the way.

On Wednesday, we celebrated the feast of Mary's assumption into heaven.

On Thursday, we talked about how Mary is the first and the greatest disciple,

and she teaches us to trust God and to believe in Him.

Today, we are talking about why Mary is our mother.

Now, have you ever thought about this? Why do we refer to Mary as our mother? Chances are, you already have a mother. Why did God give us another mother? Well, here's why.

Mary is the mother of your spirit. As people that believe in Jesus and accepted the great

salvation that he won for us on the cross, Jesus tells us that we aren't slaves anymore, but we're brothers.

We're sons and daughters of God.

We have been given the beautiful gift of salvation and heaven after we die. So if we are Jesus's brother, then clearly Mary is also our mother. And like any good mother,

Mary watches over us and takes care of us. We need Mary because sometimes when we sin, it can be a little

scary to approach God.

Do you remember what Adam and Eve did in the garden after they sinned?

They knew they had done something bad.

And when God came into the garden looking for them, they hid.

Have you ever done that?

Have you ever done something bad?

And when your parents come asking you about it, you hide?

Well, let me tell you something.
