So you've undoubtedly seen the big news that the five and a half month-long writer strike is now

over. Ish. Ish. Ish. And thank you. Thank you. They're flagging them in. It's a clear

the runway. It looks like it's going to have a good landing. What Aaron's referring to here is

all of the writer's guild members have to vote to actually ratify the deal that union leadership

hammered out with the studios over this past weekend and people I've talked with seem happy

and again ish is probably the right word for this new three-year contract. Writers actually got

quite a bit of what they were looking for. One of the issues I guess was setting minimum staff

levels for writers rooms and there were also serious limits put in place in regard to how AI can

be used when it comes to scripted fare when just to be specific there that's feature films and

television series and then sort of respecting how the world has changed since subscription streaming

has started. Guidelines have now been adopted which will reward writers if the show that they

help create suddenly becomes a sensation and streaming because again the old revenue streams

for linear television that's I think really didn't apply when it came to streaming so would

this be kind of considered like a ratings bonus. Hey if you get one million views you get an extra

10 grand. The thing is that when a show is streamed it's like literally the number of total minutes

the show is watching. The old ratings yardstick about how many eyeballs you got in a week's time

just no longer applied. Now of course you can't have television without actors and the actors

went out on strike two and a half months ago and and they're actually hopeful that the deal that
