Summary

Imagine achieving the height of success corporately, only to realize that you’re the only one in the room who looks like you. This was the case for Marty McDonald.   After an 11-year corporate career with various fortune 500 companies, Marty McDonald decided to leap after her dreams and create a community of empowerment, change, and freedom. Although the money was great and the status was admirable, Marty couldn’t help but feel a sense of loneliness and a deep desire to create a space where women of color are empowered to thrive!    Taking an idea based on connection and turning it into a movement, including a multi-city Black Girl Magic Tour, Marty launched the annual Boss Woman of the Year Summit and built a loyal community of more than 100,000 women.   Marty understands that most women are allowing fear to hold them back from accomplishing the goals they desperately desire. Her plan to expand the growth of her community is well under way as she helps Boss Women around the world empower one another through connection, networking, and workshops.     Key discussion points from this episode include: Enough Is Enough - 5:23 See The Possibilities - 9:00  Preparation In Uncomfortable Seasons - 19:25 It’s Not About You - 22:10  Creating Connections Through Storytelling - 25:45  You Are Not Alone - 29:40 Celebrating Black Girls & Women - 40:10     Connect With Marty: Instagram: @martytmcdonald @bosswomenmedia  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/BossWomenMedia Website: https://bosswomen.org/   This episode is brought to you by my free audio training, THE TRUTH ABOUT WEALTH! your host Patrice Washington. I am so excited about this season. We are still in the ramp of

0:33.2

phase of this our seventh season, and I cannot imagine having a better conversation than the one

0:40.9

you're about to hear. This community is one that understands that wealth is so much more than

0:46.3

just money and material possessions. We believe in the original 12th century definition of wealth,

0:52.0

which says it's about the condition of well-being. And so on these episodes, you're going to hear

0:57.1

my insights, but also these brilliant interviews where we tap into what I like to call the six pillars

1:03.9

of wealth. These are the areas of life that are impacting your finances, even when you're not

1:09.6

thinking about them. Now, before we jump into this week's episode, let's get to our affirmation

You got to affirm positivity. You got to affirm abundance. You got to affirm yourself to well.

1:39.4

This week's affirmation is, my identity is who I am, not what I do. I am making a conscious

1:50.4

choice to not base my identity, who I am, by my roles, what I do. I do not require others to

1:57.8

agree with or approve what I think and what I do. My worth and importance is not determined by

external validation. I choose to change my current identity because I believe the purpose I am

2:12.0

being called to requires that I know not just what I want, but who I need to become in the process.

2:19.2

I am fully stepping into the mindset and habits of who I am becoming, not what was passed onto me
