Yesterday we began a conversation with Dr. Adam Francisco on Martin Luther, Islam, and Christendom in the 16th century.

Dr. Francisco is director of academics and scholar in residence for 1517. He's adjunct professor of history at Concordia University of Chicago and author of the new book, The Turk at the door.

We discussed the history of Islam from its inception with Muhammad all the way up to the siege of Vienna

and how Luther responded both politically

and theologically to that threat to Western Europe. Let's pick up where we left off with Dr.

Francisco's answer to my question, what is Luther's idea of an infectingan and how does it help
