Hello and welcome to Marshall Matters with me, Winston Marshall for the Spectator in London.

Today I have the pleasure of being joined by Dr. Yoram Hazzoni, who is the author of the books,

The Virtue of Nationalism, the Jewish State,

the Struggle for Israel's Soul, and his most recent book, Conservatism, A Rediscovery,

amongst other books. And Dr. Hizoni is also the chairman of the Edmund Burke Foundation,

president of the Herzl Institute, and leader of the National Conservative Movement, which only last month enjoyed its conference and around the corner here in Westminster, in London,

and there was a little pushback all against that in the media and press and seemed to annoy

probably people you'd consider

all the right people to annoy. But anyway, look forward to getting into that. But Dr. Hizoni,

On the contrary, thank you for making the times come in. I wondered if we could start with

some perhaps semantics or some basic questions.

And your most recent book, Conservatism, A Rediscovery, really gets into the political philosophy of conservatism.

And there's some things I don't fully grasp, but I wondered maybe if I could ask a very simple question.

What is conservatism?

Well, conservatism is a political standpoint that sees the center of politics as being the

conservation and transmission and strengthening of the nation through time over generations.
