Today I'm joined by Russian writer, journalist and musicologist and author, Artemey Troitsky.

Artimi wrote one book back in the USSR, which I cited recently for an article on Barry Weiss's

Common Sense Substack. He's someone I've been reading for several years now. And so this is a real

great pleasure. Welcome, Artami. Glad to do an interview with a famous magazine.

Well, in normal circumstances, I'd love to discuss your books and your writing. I'm very interested

in Russian history and you've documented sort of Russian rock music and youth culture in a way

I think no one else has. But of course, four days ago, war broke out between Russia and Ukraine so it sort of feels like that

stuff will have to wait certainly for now and I'm kind of keen to ask you for a Russian perspective

on what's going on and I guess your perspective may be different from a typical Russian perspective

perhaps as that difference is something you could explain.

But certainly here in Britain, we're getting a lot of the anti-Russian side.

It's very pro-Ukraine as well as pro-peace.

But perhaps you can inform us to what it looks like from the other side

or what it looks like in your eyes.

Well, I think that all the same people of the world are on one side.

And those who are on the other side of the global barricades are lunatics

and people who feel no responsibility for the future at all.

Indeed, in Russia we have plenty of crazy people who are totally intoxicated,
