This is CBS by In The World. Bob Zimmerman keeps the website behind the black. We spend

0:09.7

a much time talking about the travails of the rich man on the solar system, Mr. Muskin

0:15.9

his starship. But there is a goal here, and that's Mars. Bob, we're on Mars, and what

0:22.8

do we know about the landing site?

0:25.3

Yes, this is another one of the stories that I broke. Just as I predicted, they would

0:30.1

not get their launch office starships to Babie as planned because the regulatory problems

0:34.9

I also was one who broke the story of where starship was, where SpaceX was planning

0:41.6

for land starship on Mars. And I've got another post on behind the black. This I posted

0:46.5

a cool image of some of the territory very close to that landing site on Mars. It's

0:52.8

in the northern, low land plains. SpaceX chose this area because it's relatively flat.

0:58.4

It makes for a large margin of error when you're landing for the first time. It's also a

1:03.1

place where there's a lot of neosurface ice. One scientist said that you could literally

1:08.0

stick a shovel in the ground, and you hit ice in this location. And all data shows that.

1:14.5

And so I posted an image very close to this location, or even 25 miles away, a way everything

1:20.3

you look at is ice. And it's very clearly ice. You see a lot of depressions. We would

1:24.3

look like corroding glaciers. And you've got the surface above those depressions. It would

1:30.3

look like it's corroding snow late early spring when the first warm temperatures arrive.

1:36.1

And this is why SpaceX showed this location because there will be lots of available water

1:40.6

here. And that's the good thing, John. And what does the mission look like, Bob? They're

1:44.5

going to touch down, scoop up dirt, and come back.

1:48.5

Well, Starship goes to the Mars. Their plan is much more ambitious, according to Musk.

1:55.5

His plan is to send multiple ships there, some to bring supplies for later manned missions.
