So today, I'm interviewing Mark Yusko. How you know today, Mark?

I'm doing great. Thanks for having me.

And always excited to have a conversation about kind of what's going on in the markets in the world.

And there's a lot going on. Before we dive right in, just want to give the listeners some background.

I know a lot of listeners probably already know you, but I met Mark at a conference.

It said actually right next to him or crossed the table from him at a dinner.

And we had a wonderful conversation.

So I really wanted to bring him on the show, just a wealth of knowledge.

So Mark is the CEO and CIO of Morgan Creek Capital, just really smart guy and just really

insightful into a lot of the stuff that's going on.

So, Mark, tell us a little bit about your background and how you

get to where you are today. Short version, although, Kirk, I don't do short well. I'll try. I grew up on

the left coast in Seattle, ended up at Notre Dame for undergrad, and then Chicago for business school,

kind of got into investing by accident. I worked in an insurance company and then an asset manager.

And then I got the call to go back to the alma mater in the mid-90s or early 90s. And we went

back and worked in the endowment office. And what I learned working at endowments, University

Endowments, University of Notre Dame, and then came down here to run the endowment at University of North Carolina, was that investing was really about the big-picture asset

allocation. Picking securities was important, but it's less important than the big-picture

decisions. And so I started Morton Creek 19 years ago to bring that endowment model of investing
