I'm Mark Stephen. And I'm Laura Covell.

This week I've been chatting to an archaeologist about Pictish society in Scotland.

There's evidence to the Picts all over the north-east and right the way down the east coast of Scotland, but it's remarkable how little we actually know about it. And I've also been out on a fair trail with the local lifeboat.

And earlier this week, I was in the place that everybody should be, the place to be this week, Dundee, as the V&A Museum opens its doors to the public for the first time.

It's a city that I know pretty well, or I thought I knew pretty well,

having grown up about half an hour away,

but as I found out, there's always more to learn about the city of discoveries

when I met lecturer and local historian Eddie Small on the waterfront.

On the site, it used to be Dundee's main corporation buss,

all the buses came here at one time, just outside the south side of the Caird Hall.

So this was hugely known to everybody.

And we can see the plaque from here of where Dundee United were actually born.

The Crown Hotel used to sit on this corner and Dundee United were formed in there.

So, yeah, it's got a well-known site in Dundee.

And it's now the site of where there's been concerts and various things happening recently.

But there used to be something quite interesting stood here.
