Hey everyone, welcome to a special episode of the Spoken Gospel Podcast. This is special because we are going to do something a little different, but something we've done before, and we want to reintroduce it and get your thoughts on what you think of it.

And today what we're going to do is we're going to look at Mark 7 versus 24 to 30.

And this is the story of Jesus and the Cyrofinition woman, where it seems like Jesus calls this

woman a dog. And it's led a lot of people to be kind of confused, maybe even offended as they've

read this passage.

But as we do the work of understanding it in the context of Mark's Gospel and of the story

of the whole Bible, especially how it maps on beat for beat with a story from Elijah's ministry,

we see a beautiful picture of who Jesus' ministry was for, the outcasts, the foreigners,

the nations, and who his ministry challenged the established religious authority,

those who found their confidence in their ethnic identity, and Jesus dialogues with all of this

and offer some challenges to us too. So what we're going to do in

today's episode and for the next few episodes is look into this passage and a few others in Mark
