Television has evolved enormously

from its early beginnings as radio with pictures.

For its first many decades,

TV productions were usually cheap,

quick, and far less respected than feature films.

Movie stars shied away from them

as did the makers of those feature films,

fearing that if they worked in TV,

their careers were running downhill fast.

Of course, there have always been exceptions.

We revered the old Twilight Zone Outer Limits,

Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Star Trek, Night Stalker, X-Files,

and a ton of others made the most of their meager assets
