Vince, let's talk about this new 5-4-5 eligibility rule here in the Irish Breakdown podcast, brought you by our friends over at Fanduil.

And this was another one of the topics that Marcus Freeman discussed during the media session that he had earlier this week.

And I'm not going to lie, when this first rolled out, I was hesitant on what that would mean, especially for programs like Notre Dame, Ohio State,

because my mind immediately went to the impact on the back end, not the impact on the front end.

My mind went to like, yeah, it would impact like Luke Talach, Jordan Faison, Elijah Hughes.

But then Freeman made some comments, and we had some discussions in the show about what it actually means.

And it kind of changed my opinion a little bit.

We had a buy-sell hold question about it.

I think it was salty who asked, like, what could the potential impact for five for five be at elite level programs like a Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State. And we talked about

at the time, it's like, look, man, at a program like Notre Dame, most players that they recruit

are not going to be five-year guys. Right. You know, like the five for five in my view, and I know

it's early, is going to have no impact on Rodney Dunham if he stays healthy and has the type of career that we think that he's going to have.

The five for five impact is not going to have anything to do with Julius Jones Jr. you know, a player coming down the pipe.

But Marcus Freeman talked about it in his sit down earlier this week. And he had some really interesting conversations about it. He was asked on the benefits of the five for five. And then he also talked about the negative side of it. And so when he was asked about the benefits, he said, I think this is a beneficial for both players and coaches. Coaches don't have to decide what four games we're going to play this guy.

They don't have to have that conversation where your team needs you to play in game

five, even though maybe your agent's telling you not to.

And that kid doesn't have to have that conversation with his coach.

Well, coach, my agent, my family's telling me not to play in game five.

You need to be able to play freshman at certain times, no matter if they play a game in four games or not. And I think that's just beneficial for so many people that this five for five went through. Then he went and doubled down on it in the second session. He said, it's good for both parties, a student athlete, but also the coaches. So coaches don't have to make a decision on what four games are we playing them. Do we want to save them for the fourth game in case we need them? We got to have a tough conversation. We need you to play game five. And this kid talking to his agent and his parents and they don't want him to play game five, that's tough on a young person. It's tough on a coach. Now that a young person doesn't have to worry about his parents saying, quote, you can only play three games or four games, don't play

another one.

I think it's really an added benefit for all parties, and I think it's going to be something

good moving forward.
