| 1:02.5 | So there is a set of tradition that appears to potentially be on its way out the door, |
| 1:08.9 | and that's something called the blue slips, a blue slip process for |
| 1:12.2 | judicial nominees. And some people listening probably have no idea what this entails whatsoever. |
| 1:17.4 | So we start there. What exactly is this blue slip process for judicial nominees? And I've seen a lot of |
| 1:24.2 | bad jokes about blue slip getting the pink slip that's been going around. |
| 1:29.3 | And what it is is it's basically senators are asked if there is a judicial nominee that originates from their state. |
| 1:39.8 | Senators are asked whether they approve or disapprove of that nomination and whether they think that nomination should go through. |
| 1:46.7 | That's been the consistent nature of it. |
| 1:48.9 | It's called a blue slip because the original slip in which you would mark your approval, disapproval, and maybe give reasons for it, was itself blue. |
