2:04.0 | This is day 20 in chronological order, the story of the Pharisee and tax collector. |
2:10.0 | Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else. |
2:16.0 | Two men went to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other was a despised tax collector. |
2:22.0 | The Pharisees stood by himself and prayed this prayer, I thank you God that I am not like other people, cheaters, sinners, adulterers. |
2:30.0 | I am certainly not like that tax collector, I fast twice a week and I give you a tenth of my income. |
2:36.0 | But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not to even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. |
2:41.0 | Instead he beat his chest and sorrow saying, oh God be merciful to me for I am a sinner. |
