Welcome to Uncommon Knowledge. I'm Peter Robinson. After growing up in New Lisbon, Wisconsin,

which has a population today of 2,523, Mark Andreessen majored in computer science at the University

of Illinois and then moved west. In 1993, Mr. Andresen co-founded Netscape, which made available the first widely used browser,

almost instantly making him a major figure here in Silicon Valley, and he has remained a major

figure ever since.

In 2009, Mr. Andresen and his investing colleague, Ben Horowitz, launched the venture capital

firm Andresen Horowitz,

which today has more than $40 billion under management.

Here at Stanford, Mr. Andresen participates in the Hoover Institution's emerging technology review.

Since the election last November, Mr. Andresen has been spending only half his time here in Silicon Valley,

spending the other half at Mara Lago, where he has been advising Donald Trump and his friends,

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramoswamy. Mark Andresen, thank you for joining me.
