The God who lives in eternity intends to speak a word to your hearts.

I invite you to get yourself into position to hear that word by turning to the book of Genesis

and follow along as I read in chapter 2 verses 18 through 25.

Then the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper fit for him.

So out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air and brought

them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living

creature, that was its name. The man gave names to the

cattle and to the birds of the air and to every beast of the field. But for the man

there was not found a helper fit for him.

So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man,

and while he slept, took one of the ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib which the

Lord God had taken from the man, he made into a woman and brought her to the man. And then the man said,

this at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.

She shall be called woman because she was taken out of man. Therefore a man leaves his father and his

mother and cleaves to his wife and they become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

Last week we focused attention on Chapter 1 of Genesis, verse 27, because that's the utterly

important foundation for understanding who we are as humans,

especially male and female. Let me read that verse with you again. It says,

so God created man in his own image. In the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.

And so Moses adds at the end of that statement,

God created man in his own image,

male and female he created them in order
